This book is good for beginners and provides a high level overview of a lot of topics, mostly related to investing in multi-family properties, specifically apartments. While it's a helpful survey of this area, I gave it 3 stars because it talks a lot about WHAT to do, it doesn't give a lot of info on specifically HOW to do these things, which then makes it sound like most of the guru books where it all sounds very easy and redirects people back to more of his materials and seminars. I did appreciate the discussion about the real estate market cycles in particular. Not exactly a how-to book though.
The first 1/3 of this book is some of the best real estate material I've ever read. Unfortunately, the author bounces around unrelated and irrelevant topics for the remainder of the book. Otherwise this could've been one of the great real estate classics.
A great read and easy to understand demographics on how real estate markets move. One of the best I have read for investors and not academics. David has a "sitting across the table" style of writing and gives specific, actionable information for the new and sophisticated real estate investor.
This is an action guide to the more rarefied world of large scale apartment investing that was fun to read. Pithy information, unvarnished, direct delivery of a specific type of real estate investing. A sub-theme throughout is delegation and how it frees you up to focus on what you should be doing - making and thinking about deals, not the stuff that’s guaranteed to kill off enthusiasm like unclogging toilets and finding tenants.
I've read three of his books, Commercial RE Investing 101, Multi-family Millions and this one. All are good for beginners but there is A LOT of overlap between the three, mostly between Multi-family and this one though. I felt they should have just been combined and condensed into one book of about 300 pages instead of two books totaling almost 500 pages. Heck, they could have easily combined all three for a 400 page tome that would have been more than sufficient.While the info was good and helpful for someone who knew nothing about commercial real estate investing I was very disappointed that he hardly covered the 'emerging markets' topic, as I expected he would given the title. He goes over the 4 phases and explains a little but the book is mostly how to go about finding deals and doing them.In addition to hardly any coverage on the 'emerging markets' this book, like his others, contains too much repeating. Yes, some concepts are important and need to be mentioned more than once but at the same time he seems to just give variations of the same ideas over and over each chapter.I would recommend this book, along with his others, to someone with no knowledge of commercial real estate investing but it is just a very basic primer and can be a bit salesy as he pushes you to his website to get more info, most of which is no longer available.
Oh man, where to start?! This whole book is amazing from cover to cover. David gives a lot of golden nuggets on building your team, 1031 Exchanges, and knowing your market. If you’re even thinking of investing in apartments, this books is a must read!

David lindahl`s emerging markets book is an excellent real estate investing book and a great resource to have in your wealth building library.It teaches you everthing you need to know how to invest in apartment buildings in the right markets at the right stage of the market cycle and how to invest in good markets and bad markets.There are 4 stages of the market cycle and Dave lindahl teaches you how to buy and sell apartment buildings in each stage of the 4 market cyles.He also teaches you how to find and analyze deals and hire property management companies that will take care of your buildings and how to raise private money to fund deals and how to buy right and inspect properties and successfully run an apartment building business and how to use 1031 exchanges to explode your wealth and move up to bigger and better properties,but I think this book is just the beginning you have to attend david lindahl`s apartment building bootcamps and get his expert training and HELP and mentorship and support and guidance and systems to "speed up your progress in becoming a real estate millioniare".Apartment building investing really interests me and I hope I can get rich and wealthy someday with david lindahl`s awesome real estate knowledge and training and systems.
