I like off-the-beaten-path books but some places just don't have much that's really not on the path. Mississippi does. Mississippi is endlessly explorable and actually doesn't have that many beaten paths. So, this book offers real rewards, not just touristy stuff like gimmicky tombstones and the like, and is definitely worth a look, (even though dated), if you are anticipating a trip. (There's a restaurant in Clarksdale where every single item on the menu is fried. It's hard to find, ask around.)
This book is a good resource for anyone traveling to Mississippi especially for the first time. The book lists many little know areas of interest and gives information and history about many places. This book made our trip to Tunica an even better experience. We found that Mississippi is a very interesting State and we've gone back for our second visit !
I enjoy reading this book and refer back to it all the time. I tell other people about places to go and see around Mississippi.
