The author really only glances over Gideon and refers to text outside of Judges more than from the immediate context of the story.
The study takes you through the whole narrative of Gideon, learning about how God used him mightily. The authors guide you through the narrative of Gideon by using the timeless way of studying scripture(Observe, Interpret, and Apply). They also provide excellent background information and captivating introductory stories through the eight lessons to make the study far from dull. Gideon struggles with much of the same things men do today: idols, insecurities, doubting God, and the fear of man. The study will help challenge, sharpen, and bring about a fresh awakening to the heart of any man willing to take the time, to live an extraordinary life for God!
I have really enjoyed digging into this study on how God used Gideon. Each study has great discussion questions, helpful illustrations, and challenging application sections, all centered around God's word as it's authority and foundation. I would recommend this study for youth pastors to use or high school students looking to have their own small group study.
