This gave me a lot of information that really lead me to no real scholarships. Seems I just receive a lot of advertisement now. Altho the book was inspirational and got me motivated to get scholarships. But I found more leads that panned out by asking the local colleges.
It's decent for the price. I'm sure there are better books out there on the subject, but it was inexpensive on Kindle, so, worth it.
Ok secrets, there are many out there that were not mentioned. The author really must renew his publication and update it. Maybe more parents would be interested in these hard times.
This book was recommended by Susie Orman. I found it to be a quick and easy read. It provides a number of statistical comparisons and suggestions of interest when applying for scholarships. It helped me organize my thoughts and clarified how much competition there is for the same dollars and how to best position myself. This book would be especially important for a high school senior but all students could benefit from it's teachings. I would recommend it.
My son will be a junior next year in high school and has ambitious plans to attend prestigious schools and become a doctor !!! Good for him but lot of money from me. Scholarships are one good way to offset costs. I was watching CNN program where the author was interviewed and appeared to be knowledgeable about many aspects of the scholarships.So went to Barnes and Nobles and found it to be too expensive. Bought the same here on Amazon for half the price.Book itself I was hoping will be an eye opener reg. some of the information for an parent that has been educated out of this country like me. Thus it is a challenge to be able to guide children.Though this books does give some pointers, I have found the material is largely contained in many of the guides that you get from colleges. Author directs readers to register on the on-line site he has and mostly this book concentrates in that aspect.I would give this book an "Okay" rating. If you are a total novice, then it makes for an interesting reading.
I was a little disappointed in this book because I thought it was going to be secrets and it was a lot of common sense things. Yes there were a few things I did not know but still not what I thought.
Great Book. Great ideas. Easy to comply with what the author is saying. I learned some new tips that I hadnt before.
I wish the book were larger with examples of essays, etc. Good advice given for where to look for scholarships.
