Perhaps it's just me, or perhaps the author is not a native English-language speaker, but the absolutely horrible grammar and style of writing in this book set my teeth on edge. It looks as though the author typed the text in a massive stream-of-thought session and never bothered to run the finished work past a proofreader or editor.
After reading the reviews ordered the book.However, though clearly written about what Echo can do,it doesn't describe how to implement the actions .Thus more digging is required.There are several web sites devoted to Echo. Recently several online manuals have appeared which describe the how to's. OK for just general background.
I purchased the echo with the attitude that I can figure out on my own. Welp, after owning it for a couple of weeks and having no idea what I was doing, I realized I need some assistance. This book was as clutch as can be, made previously complex things simple as can be.
Tried to set up "echo show" with "Ring" doorbell camera.Results are. 1. Alexa will show the front door when asked. 2. Alexa does not respond when door bell camera button is pushed. 3. 'Ring App. on my computer is notified and responds when doorbell button is pushed. 4. 'Ring App. on my cell phone is notified and responds when doorbell button is pushed. 5. Alexa, my desktop my cell And my doorbell are all linked to the same router and within 15 feet of one another.In early February:I contacted Ring Tech support, they were unable to solve the problem and referred me to Amazon Tech Support.I contacted Amazon Tech support, they were unable to solve the problem said they would get back to me... .We now approach March 1 and still no solution.Patrick Joyce
I learned almost everything before I received the book, I think the book should be included with the sale....
The books explains the many features of Alexa, but does not tell you how to get them set up. For example, you can put a daily calendar into Alexa, but doesn't explain how to set it up and the need to pull an outside calendar into the system and which calendar apps to use.
I already knew a lot before I got the book, but this is a good book for someone just getting the echo
Similar to other guides. A little basic. I was hoping for something a little more in depth or advanced. Should be included with every Echo.
