About the Editor in Chief Merrill I. Skolnik, known worldwide for his leadership in radar research and development, has been affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Radiation Laboratory, Sylvania, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the Research Division of Electronic Communications Inc., the Institute for Defense Analyses, and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. He received his doctorate in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, where he also earned B.E. and M.S.E. degrees. He is the author of the leading college textbook on radar, Introduction to Radar Systems (McGraw-Hill), now in its second edition, and the editor of Radar Applications. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the IEEE, and has served as editor of the Proceedings of the IEEE.

I was at NRL during Skolnik's tenure, and this book was one of the publications we kept on hand. While details of technology have progressed, the underlying principles are still just as valid. This is one of those reference standards everyone in the field should have access to. It was nice to pick it up used at a bargain price, but someone promptly made off with it, and I don't know if I'll see it again or not. ; ) Anyway, its a good reference, but you might want to hide it so it doesn't sprout legs. I'll be glad when mine returns from going on walkabout.NRLTEW.

The book came right away had no problems and it was in great condition for the age of the book.
I wanted the original copy because of the sections that had been edited out of the later edition. I am very happy to be able to procure this copy in such good condition.

The day after I bought this book, I made a mistake telling a colleague about it, after which it was very difficult to track it down who has it and who is using it in a team of several Radar Engineers. They had all used it as a definitive reference book on any aspect of Radar design - it covers everything that you need to know and want to know right NOW about a Radar clearly and accurately.If you are a newcomer and designing a Radar then buy a copy of 'Introduction to Radar' by Skolnik, which has a great source of information for the beginners and up and running Design Engineers, i.e. a good primer.
