I know that space is limited, as 4 countries are in the book but there are a lot of travel details that are missing (travel times, getting there and away, etc.) are scant on details and I have to look up these things online. I feel like there are too many entertainment, bar, and restaurant descriptions and not enough about the sites and activities and the travel. Maybe need a re-balance in order to get all of the pertinent details in with 4 countries.

I just got back from a 15 day trip to Cambodia and Vietnam. This book was great. It really hits the most important things to do/try. I didnt use it a whole lot once I was out and about but it really has everything you need in one book and provides great suggestions about traveling from one place to the other. The only thing I will say is that I tried to go to one restaurant in Hoi An that the book suggested that was closed (Mermaid Restaurant) so I would do your research if taking suggestions on restaurants or Hotels but that will happen with any book.

Useful to get background/culture but more limited to sights you’d expect—no secret spots here. Except for a few good tips (e.g., Cat Ba cruise), we used internet searches and TripAdvisor for most tours/outings and restaurants and hotel websites to choose our hotels. Definitely pay attention for restaurants and tours who legitimately support the local people through NGOs (e.g., KKO Tours and various restaurants in Cambodia).

I tried to use this as an eBook but it wasn't easy and the maps were useless. I found that as it covered 4 countries, it doesn't provide the really rich information on any of them that you get in other Lonely Planet guides. I didn't take the hard copy on Laos I had as it was just too heavy to lug in my baggage or my day bag - why must guide books always be so heavy?

Good travel companion for those who are travelling to the SE Asia zone with little time for a deeper exploration. It states the basic information about the main destinations available, some interesting and useful history and facts and main sights for the cities. If you want something more comprehensive you should buy the dedicated guides for each country.

This was our main companion during our recent trip to Cambodia and Vietnam. Couldn't have pulled it off without this book. Easy five stars.

Great travel book, Give it to my friend who was leaving for all those places. But I did glance through it look like it was a great one. It really gave all the important places to visit and it was very clear and easy to read and understand. End it was concise and not real heavy to carry around with you when you're traveling

Very helpful if you are looking for places to stay and to eat in major population areas.. Not so helpful regarding smaller towns or general information about the things to see and do.
