I read book 1 and this is so much better. Yes, it was repetitive at times, in the need of women learning self defense. The story line is unique and the last part is so full of suspense, intrigue and twists you will not stop reading.Enjoyed the slow romance build up of the H/h. You don't have to read book 1 because the character's from that book are only in the beginning and end. The author does a nice job of catching you up on the story.There is passionate lovemaking, outside of marriage, rated 4 out of 5 heat level, but not erotic, but somewhat descriptive.The secondary character's are interesting too, and we are treated to some nasty villains.There is no cheating, no cliffhanger, tension, HEA and a sweet epilogue. Can't wait to read more from this author. I can't improve on the blurb, so not trying. Just recommending this unique story. (ljb)
Another fun Highland Roses story as a continuation of book 1. This was Scarlet’s story and it was filled with intrigue, bravery, action and passion. Scarlet’s secrets are revealed as well as other plot twists that keep the reader engaged. It definitely kept me turning the pages and this unusual Highland romance delivered as well, if not better, than the first. What a refreshingly unpredictable tale!
Wow I went into reading this book thinking it was going to be good. But no way did I think it would be GREAT. I loved every single minute of it. I love how Heather McCollum writes where there is a level of hesitancy with the Hero and Heroine but once they find their Love they don't waver much like some books that has super big misunderstandings and doubt. Heather has them knowing and following through on their love. Yes there are villains but they conquer them together. I read it twice back to back. That is how much I loved it.
Truly fell in love with the book and this series. Aidan and Scarlet are fire and oil. He's brooding and she has secrets and nightmares she is holding in. And it's a whopper!Because of what drive her to the Highlands she is determined to see their students can protect themselves. So as Gray, Evie and Nathaniel travel to the king , Aidan will help teach self defense.And then unexpected company shows up and Scarlet must confront her past. Can't wait for the next books in series.
Aiden Campbell is my new book boyfriend. I totally fell in love with that brooding Scot! And Scarlet Worthington lives up to her name. With training and encouragement from Aiden, she becomes a lethal warrior able to conquer her demons. I adore McCollum’s Highland novels, but this one spoke to me. It’s about empowerment and freedom and choice, things we want to teach our daughters! Five stars.
I have recently read both of the Highland Roses School books and they have everything a great romantic novel needs; a great plot, vivid details of descriptions of the Highlands , and plenty of action and adventure along with lots of steamy love scenes. I highly recommend these books and can hardly wait for the next one in the series to come out! Happy reading!
It was hard to read of the rape details but good to see how the women learned to protect and defend themselves. The defense classes were in enough detail that it also taught me what and how to do the same defensive moves. The storyline was intriguing and we'll thought out.
Heather McCollum has written an outstanding of Highland intrigue and love. I found this book so interesting I could not put it down. It kept my interest from beginning to end. I would recommend it to anyone.
