I was excited to give this book to my nephew for his 13th birthday because he LOVES learning about facts. I bought it based on other reviewers who said they had given to their similarly-aged relatives, since there wasn't a "Look inside" feature and no age recommendations on the description.I riffled through the pages when it arrived and realized it was perfect for him (bite-size pieces of information that he can pursue further if he's curious) except for the Supernatural and Superweird chapter. He's more of a "Just the facts, ma'am" kind of kid. So I figured he could just skip that chapter, no problem. His auntie, however, happens to be very interested in the Supernatural and Superweird, so I started reading that chapter. It was fascinating! Unfortunately there was language in that section of the book that I felt uncomfortable giving to him, and I knew his parents would definitely frown upon it! His upbringing is a bit (okay, a LOT) more innocent than a lot of kids these days - he and his younger brother and sister don't watch TV, they don't have video games or phones, and they are home-schooled. No they are not Amish. :)I think the book is great, and probably would be fine for most older kids these days, as a typical video game is much more violent than the stories in the book. But I thought I would let others know about some of the language in case they are of similar mind as my nephew's family.Examples of the language I felt was inappropriate included mentions of rape, abortion, sexual assault by demons, murder, beheading, and the like.I understand he'll be exposed to this kind of stuff probably in the near future. But I don't want to be the one who does it!
This big book of short little bits and pieces of "factual" information is a great way to kill your boredom, to help fall asleep, or that you're just interested in random facts. I personally have found it interesting enough to where I would like to order more types of these books. I have ADD (lol) and can't concentrate on anything more than a paragraph. This book was perfect for my short attention span.

Major subject matter is nicely grouped and there is a comprehensive index. Trivia aficionados will appreciate it. This book will add greatly to anyone's arsenal of conversation starters. This book title is wrong ! :) I find it fascinating and informative. The topics are endless, and are bound to be interesting to anyone who has curiosity about many things. The item discussions appear to be factual and serious. Plus, it is one of those books which you can read at your leisure. You can stop anywhere and go back to the next subject without trying to remember what you have read several days ago. I recommend it highly !
It's not great literature but it's a fun read! It's the perfect book to pick up when you're taking a short break during your day, or waiting for the dryer to buzz or the oven timer to go off. Pure entertainment!
I purchased this book for my grandson for Christmas. As luck would have it, I just began to wrap his gifts when I noticed that the entire interior spine is broken and detached from the book. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, so what to do. I guess I have to repair the binding as best I can and explain the situation and then purchase another, not from the same seller.
I actually purchased this book for one of my son-in-laws. Seems like young to middle aged men are difficult to buy for unless you want to stick with the clothes, socks, and ties. I just wanted something different and totally unexpected. I think it worked.
I bought this as a gag gift for a Christmas party. The hardback book was well stitched and of surprisingly good quality. It went over well as a gift and elicited numerous positive comments from partygoers.
