About the Author
While originally from "off" *not born on the Charleston peninsula, David R. AvRutick has been a full-time resident of downtown Charleston for almost twenty years, having been a part-time resident for the previous ten. As the founding president of the American College of the Building Arts--the only college of its kind in the United States--David led the creation of this unique Charleston institution which educates those who now help restore, maintain, and create lasting beauty in the structures of Charleston, the nation, and beyond. When not taking photographs, David is a serial entrepreneur (check out what Alice's Clubhouse is doing for families suffering with Alzheimer's and dementia) and lives two blocks from the Battery in downtown Charleston with his wife, two children, and their cats Max and Lola. I love trying to answer the challenging questions that he asks about Charleston. I’ve learned so much over the years from David. If you love the Crowning Jewel of the Low Country as much as I do or if you’d just like a book of amazingly beautiful photographs to enjoy, buy David’s book today. I just received my copy in the mail and I can’t stop looking at it. I see something else to love about Charleston every time I flip a page. This book is absolutely beautiful! From the Foreword by Mayor Joseph P. Riley to the amazing photography, this book is wonderful. Even as a local that gets to see these homes/gardens/streets, I find these glimpses into Charleston a pleasure to view. This is a must have for anybody that loves Charleston!
Beautiful photography. Love this book. But I wish it were a little bigger in size. Almost too small to use as a coffee table book.
